Congratulations to the students of this week's Day Skipper Theory Course (9-13 Aug 2010) who all passed with flying colours. It is always very encouraging to see students at this level develop a solid understanding of theoretical concepts related to navigation, meteorology, tidal systems, COLREGS, etc. The group of four students will all be continuing to Day Skipper practical level. I look forward to a very pleasant week of sailing in Cape Town and surrounds. We will be spending the week in Cape Town, with a possible trip to Hout Bay for some coastal sailing and port entry experience. The successful students are Lawrence Thomas from the UK, Daniel da Silva from Durban, Andrew Trinder and Vernon Deas from Cape Town. We are intentionally keeping our classes small to ensure students receive the required personal attention. Our practical courses will also be limited to four students per yacht where possible to ensure each student gets enough time behind the wheel and the chart table. ![]()
