Emigrated to SA in 1969

Learned to sail at age 7 on lakes in dinghies in UK.

Royal Navy for 12 years, RADAR operator, school of Navigation; did sailing as a sport.

Many years of recreational sailing and racing in UK, SA and various parts of the world and including crossings Cape town – Rio – Cape Town (monohull racing there, delivering return). Cape Town St Lucia (catamaran delivery) and St Lucia Granada (monohull delivery with teaching.

Instructor – Good Hope Sailing Academy 2000 – present; teaching theory & practical for Competent Crew, Day Skipper and Coastal prep. SAS syllabus.

Instructor Yachtmaster Ocean Sailing School 2006 – present; teaching shore based Day Skipper, Coastal/Yachtmaster, RADAR & SRC (radio). RYA syllabus.

have owned a number of dinghies, a Hunter 19, a Formula One 22ft racing keelboat, and a Muira.

I now ‘look after’ a couple of yachts and sail more for pleasure than professionally.
